A pilot friend of mine saw the splendid Aerosur 727 today, saturrday May 10 in the terminal (possibly CP-2488)
Anyone has information if the 757 is getting maintenance or something? Was it a one time-substitution or will the 727 be operating to Miami for a while? That flight must have stopped somewhere on the way.
What days/time is Aerosur flying to Miami now anyway.. their website wasn't of much help. I also couldn't find the Arrival or Departure information for Aerosur on the Miami airport's flight information.

AeroSur is, IIRC, temporarily using a 727 right now while the 757 is in maintence.
AeroSur MIA schedule consists of morning arrivals on TuThSaSu. On Saturdays, the plane operates a daylight service back to Bolivia instead of parking on the tarmac to do a redeye; other days it departs just before midnight.

AeroSur could face all kinds of trouble in the very near future. They apparently illegally imported an ex-PA 722 (which I saw at CBB last week) and many of their aircraft are operating very precariously. If some other airline in Bolivia were able to fill such an eventual void, the Bolivian DGAC would pull the plug on 5L and revoke their AOC tomorrow if they could.

That would be B727-233 CP-2498 (ex-CP-2463 with LAB), the youngest aircraft in 5L's fleet.
Is anyone sure 5L will be wet-leasing a Ryan 757 again from June? I believe they are trying very hard to import something else, like a 762 (though 5--all ex-UA and ex-AC machines--have been rejected to date by the DGAC due to their poor condition/lack of papers) as well as (for the 2nd time) a B747-146B(SR), in this case, 5U-ACG.

Almost! Some minor corrections, if I may:
CP-2438 had its CofA revoked last year and has been dumped at EZE for many months now. Not of much use to 5L anyway as was unable to reach LPB due to its JT8D-9A engines (vs. the -17s of the other 732s).
CP-2507 was an illegal reg, apparently meant for another Jatayu 732 which is now said to have arrived in Bolivia for AerolĂneas Sudamericanas (2nd plane for them). Nonetheless, 5L have received (saw with my own eyes) the original Jatayu 732 in question and has registered it CP-2508. It is parked behind the mysterios Pan Am 722 and the derelict ex-5L 722 CP-2423 at Cochabamba.
I believe the last operators for CP-2484 & 2486 were also Westjet, since the latter still has the plaque in the rear galley with the Canadian reg C-GQWJ.

The interesting thing was, both the 727 and 757 were there that day (the 757 didn't look like it was getting maintenance because it wasn't by the hangars)
ZXV, do you think they can get away with operating that single plane to MIA 4x weekly? (since it's the newer one)

I don't know if its sisterships are actually impeded in any way from operating the route. Believe they have more powerful engines too, so I would think all five (or six if the Pan Am gets registered) can operate to MIA.

a) 5L indeed is changing a little bit, I know they want to incorporate "new" (probably second hand) aircraft in the second semester 2008.
b) They started flights to Cuzco (PerĂş)
c) They modernized computing systems to enable pre-flight checkin online and other advantages
d) They are operating their own catering company to improve on board service.
e) They now operate lounges in the major airports in Bolivia for premium pax
f) A couple of weeks ago they advertised that they will have a dedicated aircraft for the VVI-LPB-VVI run to guarantee ontime departures.
g) The VVI-MAD-VVI leg is being operated codeshare with A7 Air Comet of Spain, operating A330 on Mondays and Wednesdays and A310 with stop at Tenerife on Fridays (I took the flight recently in "Clase A", interesting!).
However all the points of flights/aircraft indicated in the forum are not public and I cannot comment much to them. Tonight I will have a 5L flight and let´s see what aircraft I get. I will try to inform.
Also as the 5L maintenance is done at CBB airport I will try to see what aircraft I get to sight, yet it will probably be difficult due to the darkness at the hour of my forseen departure.

Meanwhile, we were using N929RD for the 5L flights until N151GX came out of C-Check in SJO. It has since come out and N151GX was operating the flights. Aerosur has told us to halt the 757 flights until June 1. So as of today, 151 was operating DOD charters until then. Will give updates later on.
