Being that a significant percent of the passenger will not eat Beef on flights to India, it makes sense that they won't serve it. Claiming that beef is the national food bf Britain and therefore should be served on all BA flights does not make sense. I think skipping beef in economy on flights to India makes sense.
Also, this may be a cost cutting move. The alternative may be cheaper.

Ridiculous, me being a Hindu, have no objections whatsoever if my neighbor is having beef. Let him enjoy.
This is probably just a trick by BA to avoid serving beef completely on Indian sectors and push it on the religious part and then the world gets to criticize that Hindus are intolerant, which is a fallacy. I'm sure they were pretty comfortable serving beef to passengers all these years.

Why is that we drive in a parkway and park in a driveway?
Because I love my beef!! Can't go wrong with a good steak or prime rib.
I have nothing against the hindu faith. As a muslim from India I have a high respect for the hindu faith. I do think it is crazy BA would stop serving beef across all their international flights rather than just UK-India.

If this applies only to India flights, it makes sense. If a large number of your passengers will not be eating beef, then why try and cater it? I assume most flights do half and half when it comes to meal choices, so it's logical to do half and half of things that ALL passengers would choose.
If this applies to ALL BA flights, then you've entered a very tricky area. No pork for Muslims and Jews, no beef for Hindus, and then what? No meat at all for Vegans?
Clarification is needed from BA.

Does BA serve pork on any flight to Islamic countries?
If they do, then there's no consitency.
BTW, now that I think of it, I've never been offered pork on any flight of any carrier.
Is this true?

If you read the article the BA spokesman says "We have to try to use two meals which appeal to as many customers as possible. This summer season we are offering customers in World Traveller on most longhaul flights a choice of chicken and tarragon or fish pie''

While you might not have been offered 'pork' you might have been offered a ham sandwich/toastie/pannini. Also the full english/irish breakfast, bacon sandwiches breakfast rolls, etc served/sold on many EI, BA, BD, WW and FR flights contain pork as well. Quite popular in the british isles is a good bacon sandwich/butty!

I've seen short ribs, pulled pork sandwich and pork chop offered over the years. And omelette with cheese and ham. And eggs with potatoes and a ham steak. And ham and cheese mini-sandwich (Jennie-O).

I wonder also if the beef is part of the "healthy" movement around the world. People are also eating more chicken and fish for health reasons. BA may also be responding to that trend.
