Why No KLM Service To Amsterdam From EMA & LPL?

I was wondering why KLM Cityhopper do not serve Nottingham and Liverpool airports from Amsterdam. Is it simply because theyre close proximity too Birmingham and Manchester airports respectfully?

I thought it would offer much better connections for KLM to serve these airports instead of easyJet and bmibaby.

Any thoughts?

I don't think WA could sustain services to airports so close together. We do very well out of MAN on both KL and WA services, soon all flights will be on mainline 737s out of MAN. If WA started flights from LPL or EMA it wouldn't really be creating new demand, more likely just taking away from another airports' demand instead.

KLC used to fly to EMA with S340's years ago, but stopped because of bad loads...BHX is just too close...

Indeed, and in KLMs business model they better have 8 dailies from one airport than 5 + 3 from 2 airports, offering better connections.

Are we forgetting that KL have tried LPL before and pulled out? Admittedly it was before World War 2.....

KLM used to fly to EMA with F50s too, mid to late nineties, although the service was actually operated by KLM UK (formerly Air UK).

LPL had no direct international services (except DUB) until EZY came along, and EMA-AMS was always British Midland territory. I'm not sure this had much to do with proximity to BHX, it was just how it was (and still is).

A small airline did attempt LPL-AMS with EMB-110 Bandeirantes in the 1980s, but the name of it escapes me.

KLM operate services from both CWL & BRS 4-5 times daily, plus Easyjet and BMI Baby operations. With these airports approx. 1 hour apart,i dont think close proximity affects these flights at all.
Most services are very busy.

Didn't Dan Air also use to operate LPL-AMS using Comets in the early 1970s? Some blurb I've seen lists LPL-RTM with Dan Air as an additional "old" international scheduled route for LPL.

Might have, I know that LPL had scheduled routes before the place nearly died after BD withdrew LHR schedules. The early 70s are a bit too early for my radar, although it'd be interesting to find out
