It doesn't seem that any gates have been assigned for tomorrow's CO flights out of IAH. Is there a reason for this? Does IAH typically wait longer than EWR to assign gates? Perhaps wait until the morning of?

Yes, they wait often. When I check in for flights connecting through IAH the day before, I often get "gate not assigned" or whatever on my IAH boarding pass.

Which I never understand, not to mention I've never had flights switch gates so often as when travelling through IAH - while I'm at the airport.
Last flight I took thru there our gate switched 6 times in the span of 1.5 hrs...

I believe the gates at IAH sometimes are "late" in getting assigned is due partially to weather that is either approaching or there already or for inbound aircraft that have left other airports that have weather....IAHcsr
could confirm this with me or shoot me down...but I think it is the former.
Not sure why EWR isn't as tardy with gate assignments as they often have worse weather for longer periods..

Weather has been rough down there all week- I was there on Tuesday morning, HUGE storm came through, a few cancellations, etc. We arrived early, so our plane came into a different gate than flyfo originally told me, etc etc.
I suspect it's been the weather lately, and I have noticed it too.

Considering that they are so full that you often wait on another jet leaving your jetway, even if for only 1 minute, I think it just comes down to optimum utilization of gates with minimum amount of switching and confusion. But they do try to have certain flights routinely leave from certain gates or at least certain concourses.

Yes, it is very common for a CO IAH flight to have a late gate assignment. In my experiences, usually about morning of. If it's an early flight, like 8 PM night before.
