The Orbis Flying Eye Hospital DC 10-10, N220AU, is visting at Toronto Pearson International Airport YYZ. According to the Orbis website its in town for a promotional tour from June 4th to 7th. Presently the aircraft is parked at the Fed Ex apron on the north end of the airport and is clearly visable,unobstructed by ground equipment from the road leading to the former Fex Ex hill

I took a walk though that aircraft many years ago.. It's a truly impressive medical facility with wings. IIRC that aircraft was one of the first DC10-10s built and was originally operated by Laker Airways.

I stopped by FedEx hill today, before heading home. Now, maybe i'm just blind, but I didn't see it. I was tired, but I don't think I could've been THAT tired to miss something "exotic" from Bramalea.

Pretty interesting subject. The original idea went through Garrett in the seventies before my time. The original airframe was supposed to be a DC8, the chief engineer at the time was a guy named Ben Prusek.
I had a friend who worked there as an engineer and every once in a while we'd cruise over to document control and look in the back for cool stuff, part of which was the Project Orbis file.
So old Ben, had retired and one day he comes to the place to have lunch with the fellas-I remember the occasion quite well. Shortly thereafter we hear through the grapevine that he's set himself up as an aerospace consultant and that he was working on a revival of Project Orbis...so me and my pal go out to document control and the entire file on Project Orbis had disappeared. Ben had checked it out that day and never returned what was, after all, not his property to dispose of.

It was posted on YYZnews.com that it had arrived at 1430 hours and parked at gate 609 at FedEx. So with that, we can confirm that I was half asleep as well.
