Apologies if this has been asked before; a search unearthed nothing.
I'm booked on AC869 LHR-YYZ (763) and AC848 YYZ-LHR (343) on 24 April and 1 May respectively. As far as I can tell, neither of these aircraft has IFE in economy (I'm far too poor for any better than that!). Is this right? Do I need to take a couple of absorbing books?
Also, when I booked I chose my seats but AC states that I cannot be assured of getting the seats I chose. Am I likely to be sat in the window seat of my choice, or do I risk being bundled off into some horrible seat in the middle?
Can't wait to fly Air Canada though, another first!

Not sure about needing the books and ACs seating policy, but I will point out that AC will be phasing out both of these a/c over the next five years or so as they bring their new 777 & 787 fleets on line. Who knows? Then they might be able to guarantee the window seat of your choice!

Hi Incubus,
I haven't travelled on the A343 with AC but have on the 763. They didn't have AVOD but they had main screen IFE. You can check here http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelin...o/onboard/entertainment/index.html what they will be showing in April, though you will have to wait until 1 April to know as it seems slow to update.
Enjoy your flights on AC.
PS be nice, posting virgin... but long time reader .

On this thread from a different site (where I work), someone replied that 763s won't have PTVs when you're flying, but they're coming soon. And as Paul says in his last post, they do have the big screens. (Congrats on your first a.net post, Paul!)

The movie screens in the main cabin will start shortly after takeoff, and they wont stop until just before landing. You will see two movies, news, some television shows, and between all this "airshow" will be showing.
You wont be bored, but a book is always a good standby.
The B767-300s are scheduled for a cabin refit in the autumn. This will include the new J class suites, and AVOD in all cabins. The A330s and A320 also are getting AVOD shortly. (I recently flew an A320 with the new cabin, and AVOD in all seats, it was the first!)
Enjoy your flight!

Air Canada don't have any IFE. Those 767s have little TVs bolted to the ceiling every six aisles or so but you'll give yourself an embolism squinting at one for 90 mins. If you have no expectations of any IFE, or of decent food, or of polite service, you'll have a good flight as long as they give you the window and you bring a good book.
Yes! Senator Obama. We are ready to believe again.

Although I agree with Cedarjet to a degree with regards to the IFE; it isn't as good as Air France when I have travelled with them to YUL, I haven't had a problem with food or polite service, even on my last flight when the F/A addressed me in French for the whole flight after speaking with me at the door about my name in English... Â but eh, these things are small and insignificant. I do wonder though about them not guaranteeing you the seat you have chosen with the new policy of offering a discount if you do not wish to choose seats at the time of booking? Anyway, have a pleasant flight.

PS Thanks Pgtravel for the welcome...

Looks like a couple of good books is the way forward! I never watch the movies anyway, I only ever use the IFE for the map functions, but my travelling companion is whingeing that he will be bored without a TV to watch!
The best movie for me is always the view out of the window.
