Does anyone know about air canada's orders for the a330-300 and a340-400- and 500.

The first Air Canada A330-300 is due to be delivered in July of 99, they are replacing teh 747's all of them even teh -400's

I am sure the new aircraft are not actually being purchased by Air Canada, they're being leased. They do not own any of the A340's they currently operate. Either way, it makes sense that they are replacing their 747-400s. They are combis that only seat about 260. You can find out all about the AC fleet at its website (www.aircanada.ca) Look under investor information. I believe they have new aircraft deliveries posted there.

The A330's are now coming in October. Yesterday, 01 June, we received another A340, with a second new one coming later this month.

I AC purchasing the A330s to replace some of their 767-300's? I always thought they were to replace the older 747 combis, but there seems to be a lot of them on the way. What is going on here? Thanks.

The order was made to replace their 747-100s and 747-200s. The 747-400s will continue on. As for the order itself, most of it was deffered when AC posted a loss last year/

That's what they told us in the company news page the other day. I confirmed it with a pilot as well.
I only thing I can think of is perhaps we're taking delivery in July, but it will be ready for revenue service in October. Seems like a long wait though. I'll try to reconfirm it again....we've gotten eroneous news before!
