JetBlue will use their new Embraer E190s to fly on all BOS-FL routes this winter. Here's the breakdown:
BOS-FLL
4x A, 1x E (+100 seats over last year)
BOS-RSW
3x A, 1x E (+100 seats over last year)
BOS-MCO
4x A, 2x E (+44 seats over last year)
BOS-TPA
2x A, 1x E (-56 seats over last year)
BOS-PBI
3x E (new route); I'd expect to see A320s on this route sometime this winter.
Just thought it was interesting to see that the E190s will be flying on some very high capacity, high demand routes this winter. I guess it's a good way in increasing (or decreasing) capacity without taking as much risk with a larger plane (such as the A320).
What are your thoughts?
Remember that BOS-JFK, PBI, AUS, NAS, and AUS have all been announced as new E190 routes too.

Sounds good, more BOS-FL capacity this winter. Will the new 190 flights be 190 all year round or become A320 during the spring and summer or will they just be a winter thing.

Haha...my bad. Yes I'm very excited about AUS. I hope it'll be a success of course, but maybe 3x out of JFK is a little bit too much? I would think 2x would be just perfect but let's see. B6 obviously knows more than I do...

apparently he likes the town! Hey, where is RIC?? I think that was what JetBluefan1 meant to type.
When will B6 add JAX? Sigh, I know, pure speculation...
As a stockholder I'm a little sad B6 is predicting a loss for the year (with the $9mill charge, I know). I'm very excited about the E-jets and *really* hope they turn the profit corner. (Note: I happen to agree with the new accounting rules, so I won't make an exception, even for a stock I own.)
Did Wilma have any impact on the plans to serve CUN? I really hope everyone is ok down there on the Yucatan peninsula. The pictures I've seen have been scary but not horrid...

The $25 fare sale is gone and is now $40. When looking at fares, I've seen many $120 ones so I would assume that those flights are pretty full. Neeleman also said himself that bookings have been very strong.
As far as BOS-TPA goes, the yields obviously suck, but I heard loads weren't that great last year. I guess they figure that it's better to fill up an E190 (while still getting the higher-end of prices) rather than have an A320 flying 65% full with only sale-fare travelers.

RE: Cancun, they will have that place cleaned up in no time..Unlike here in the States where we wait around for the "crews" or "authorties", those industrious Mexicans will get out there by the thousands(probably already starting today) cleaning , sawing trees removing debris, sweeping, ,etc..
Hell, they will probably bring in huge dredges and start pumping sand back on to the beach.
It is my favorites resort and am fully confident they will be ready for "the season"!!!!

I am a bit surprised that JetBlue will be using 190s on certain BOS-FLorida routes - I really thought that the 190s would mainly services to new cities, new nonstop that "connect the dots" in JetBlues route system (ie, northern NY state cities to Florida cities), and take over some short haul hops (such as BUF to JFK) that could then be flown with increased frequency. Using the 190 on the BOS-PBI route seems a bit odd - but maybe all of this will be adjusted once more 190s are in service over at JetBlue.
I am surprised by the high-demand for BOS-JFK services: we all assume that pax to/from NYC prefer LGA over JFK for shorter domestic services - were we wrong or is the demand being fueled by the very reasonable introductory fares?

According to a January schedule it looks like flight 71 (JFK-MCO) and 78 (MCO-JFK) are replaced by an E-190. New flight numbers are 1051 (JFK-MCO) and 1052 (MCO-JFK).
It seems that all flight numbers under 1000 is operated by A320's and all above by E-190's.

Sounds odd because MCO is jetBlue's best performing route. Anyway seems like a good amount of 320's are going to come in and be unused so I am guessing more new 320 cities, routes and maybe another big new station like MIA??

BOS-MCO has been successful, so even though E190's are coming online, there will still be an additional 44 seats in the market as there will be 4x Airbus and 2x Embraer.
BOS-FLL and RSW have also been very successful since launching, so I'm not surprised to see additional capacity there. BOS-TPA has never been a great route, so I'm not surprised to see the change there either.

Quoting UN_B732 (Reply 15): What about a red-eye BOS-SJU on the 190s?
I think that should be soon, it sounds good and B6 will have a lot of planes soon that are ready to be deployed on new routes,
Quoting UN_B732 (Reply 15): As I understand it, jetBlue is doing well on JFK-SJU
Yes, very well, they have normally 6 or 7X during summer and all other peak times (Thanksgiving, Christmas, March Break, Spring Break etc), but otherwise they have 3X during regular times.

If you say so. I'm not so sure I'd like to go down there and stay at a hotel with a moldy/mildewed first floor because they hurried to get things open rather than doing proper cleanup. I've been in hotels like that before. Not worth it.
Not to mention the totally flooded downtown and restaurants.
