I had an opportunity to do some planespotting at Indianapolis International Airport on Saturday, October 8, 2005 from about 12:30pm to 3:30pm. Unexpectedly, there was a Northwest DC-10 parked at the international terminal (located in the NE quadrant of the field). Even more unexpected, I waa there to see it take off from 5L about 1:50pm.

I'm curious if anyone out there know the destination of this aircraft, which was probably operating a charter to the Caribbean, Mexico or Europe?

maybe it is the plane that brought them back from yesterday's SFO game.

The next generation of aircraft is just around the corner!

Did you happen to get any pics? Would you mind sharing if you did?

Indy = Indianapolis and not Independence Air

It actually arrived in IND on 10-6. I was on the ramp that evening, and in a span of an hour we got to see a V-22 Osprey land, ten minutes later came a C-5 Galaxy, and then the NW DC-10 (in the new color scheme I may add). Quite an exciting eveining.

Nice Trip Report!!! Great Pics, thanks for posting!!!! B747Forever

Unfortunately, I can only post messages and the pics I got weren't that great. When I snapped two shots of the DC-10 as it took off from 5L Saturday afternoon I was standing on the top level of the airport terminal aprking deck. Kind of distant for good pics. I was attempting to get some mpeg video with my digital camera but pressed the wrong button and only got maybe 1 sec of video!

It was great viewing airlines from the parking deck and activity was pretty constant. Saturday was my first opportunity to see UA Express and US Express Embraer 170's up close. I doubt the parking deck to be built for the new mid-field terminal will be as close to the ramp.
