I have been searching on a.net and the web but can't get information on it. after seeing many sports teams with their private aircraft(seattle mariners, miami dolphins etc.) I am assuming NY Yankees with their huge payroll should have a nice looking A/C too. Does anyone know?
In the discription field it says "North American Airlines leased this Flying Colours 757 for a short period of time. Aircraft seen at BFI while operating a charter for the New York Yankees baseball team. The name of the aircraft was "Terese C.""
So I think the Yankees will fly on chartered planes. I'm not sure, beacause this picture was taken in '98.

As a proud Bostonian ( at least former, lol ) I am sad to say, that yes ......here at Continental we charter flights for the New York STANKEES. Damn the Evil Empire!!!!!!!!!
But....like the Houston LASTROS ( who we charter as well ) alot of Stankee fans have been drinking the Kool-Aid if they think they're going to the post-season,lol.
That said...I wish the Charter Dept. would pick-up REAL teams like the Red Sox and Patriots.
May the best teams win and have good flights !

Thanks for the replies I'm suprised even the CO planes with the NY Yankees on board don't have pictures on the database, also as a big yankee fan I think they should have a BBJ or ACJ with navy blue and white stripes with the NY Yankees logo, how beautiful would that bird look? Given our grandeur that would be the only way to fly And sox fans you guys got right! It is an EMPIRE while all the others are just baseball clubs, organizations etc.
Quoting BoeingBus (Reply 4): You all have it all wrong!!! The Evil Empire flies the Star Destroyers and TIE fighters.

CO is partially true. However several members of the Yankees, noteably Kevin Brown, ARod, and I believe Derek Jeter, have provisions in their contracts stating that they will be provided with Private Jets for all travel to road cities. Thats a big crock if you ask me. That does not promote team building, chemistry, and the like, and I think its one reason the Yankees don't seem to function as a team the way teams like the Angels, the Cardinals, and the Braves do.

You're all wrong. This year the Yankees are using Northwest. How do I know you ask? Well when they were in MKE I stood at the bottom of the jetway and watched them all deplane off of an A320. When they left MKE they were once again on a Northwest A320, and I got Bernie Williams, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez to autograph a baseball for me.
Nice Trip Report!!! Great Pics, thanks for posting!!!! B747Forever

Just because CO is the official airline, doesn't mean they fly on them. The "official airline of..." is merely a marketing ploy. The Yankees may fly on them but many other sports teams have an "official" airline that they never fly. I think WN may be the official carrier of the St. Louis Cardinals but they fly AA (I would hate to squeeze a baseball teams' equipment on a 737 for a long road trip). A few sports teams out there have their own private jets, others charter through 135 companies like Sky King. Some that I've handled are:
Dallas Stars/Texas Rangers: 727
Detroit Red Wings: DC-9

Being the official Airline means nothing of course. We did a charter this year for the Phillies earlier this summer when the had a series Versus the Astros in either late July or Earlier August here in Houston. I don't know if it's for this year or not or was just a one time thing.
AirTran737, you should do like the cubs fan do : throw that ball away, lol !
Just kidding with ya,nice of them to do that.

I thought that MLB added a provision that required players to fly with the team after Sammy Sosa made a big stink about NW being too unsafe to fly and refusing to get on them with the rest of the team. I could be wrong on that one though.

The Yankees NW thing just started this season, when they had a west coast road trip this year it has been a NW 752 from LGA. I read on another thread that when a sports team signs with NW for the season it includes one road trip each on a DC-10 and 742/744. As far as certain Yankee players having provisions about Private aircraft I had not heard that one, only a rumor that Pedro Martinez had that with both the Red Socks and now the Mets. Again only a rumor.

A few years ago when the AHL was still in Atlantic Canada the teams used to fly to YSJ or YYT for games on ATR 42's. If you think it is bad trying to fit ball gear on a 737 try fitting a skate sharpener, 100 hockey sticks and equipment on one of those dysfunctional birds. If that doesn't teach you to pack well nothing will.
Canada Rocks! From the west coast to the best coast!

I wonder how The Red Sox travel? Does anyone know. I think it might be Delta, I know the Patriots uses 763s out of BOS. I know Delta sponsors the Sox so I assume they fly them, anyone know?

That upgrade is for football teams...haven't heard of it for baseball teams though, I think that such an upgrade might be overkill...maybe in the playoffs though...

Ahhh...baseball charters. In 2000 I worked the ramp at Delta Shuttle in LGA. We used to get the Mets and Yankees all the time on short hops with the 727's. I miss those days of mingling with the teams on the ramp and having baseballs and sharpies at the ready. At that time, EVERY player flew on the team's charter plane. Must be different now....
