I was checking NW's European route map and see there's no service to Spain. Does KLM not service Spain because of age old feuds or is air trafic to/from there that insignificant?

Checking on KL.NL I can see a number of cities served by KLM.

Yes, I think KLM only flies to MAD and BCN.

They have about 5 daily AMS-MAD-AMS flights and 4 AMS-BCN-AMS flights...about 9 daily departures to Spain from AMS.

They used to have more destinations in Spain a long time ago, and they even used the A310 on their MAD flights. I flew on their A310s twice in 1991 between MAD and AMS.

I figured it was odd... apparently NW doesn't codeshare all flights.

Most of the other main Spanish destinations are served by low-cost subsidiary Transavia.

These are their scheduled flights (amongst AMS-MAD/BCN which are also served by Transavia):
Alicante from AMS/RTM
Girona from RTM
Malaga from AMS/RTM
Palma from AMS
Sevilla from AMS

I think there maybe some codeshares with UX or have been in the past.

KLM has 6 daily 737 flights into Barcelona and Madrid is served 5 times daily, also with the 737 variations.
All other destinations are served through codeshare agreements.

Ok so we have 11 daily KL departures from AMS to Spain instead of 9.

Btw and sorry if I get a bit off topic, but I went to BCN this last Saturday and saw PH-BTC (KLM's B737-400 that skidded off the runway) still sitting on the tarmac...on the "corrosion corner" at BCN airport. I know it has been written off but...is it going to be scrapped? are they just going to leave it there?

I heard it was an economical w/o (costs of repair more then the replacement value), so it will be scrapped.
