Since it is kind of confirmed that from 2005 Continental Airlines will start to operate in China, so recently there is a discussion in http://bbs.carnoc.com about what a/c will operate that route. Someone said it will be B764. However, I personally don't think so as I don't believe 764 is capable of doing that. I guess it should be CO's T-7.
Moreover, I'd like to ask the Origiantion/Destination of that route as I never flew CO. The only NA flights I ever experienced are UA, AA, DL, NW and AC.

I wouldn't say it's "kind of confirmed" at all; but in their application to the government Continental proposed to fly 777s from Newark to Beijing in 2005 and Newark to Shanghai in 2006.

Continental has said it would fly to Shanghai / Beijing (Shanghai first, then Beijing) with the 777 and both flights, if awarded, would operate out of Newark.

It will be with a T7 and Beijing would be first in 2005 and PVG would follow in 2006. If CO does get these route authorities, will they purchase any more a/c? Also when will the routes be awarded?

People on previous posts had noted that CO has options on 777 for relatively immediate delivery that were believed to be pending upon the outcome of this decision.

757-200 w/winglets to fly some more & New Euro routes, 767's to Replace a few 777 in Europe so EWR-PEK/PVG can operate; but you are right CO is Kinda short on 777's so someday going to need a few more..

It will be a B777, the one programmed to fly the EWR-MAN route. MAN should see 2 x B757W flights a day instead of 1 x B777.

The routes from EWR to Bejing and from EWR to Shanghai will each be operated with a 777 if CO gets the authority, that is certain. The likely scenario is that, if CO gets the routes, they can finally justify getting more widebody aircraft and will acquire two 777s to bring the fleet to 20: CO has one current option on the 777 which can be delivered rather quickly and CO can probably arrange to lease an additonal 777 within the time frame from one of the major leasing companies.
If both routes go daily, it will require about 4 aircraft to operate the new routes, the other two aircraft will be reassigned from European services with a lot of aircraft shuffling. Services to Ireland and Scotland will be flown with 757s (increased frequencies) instead of the 767s that now fly to GLA and DUB at least part of the year, those displaced 767s will replace 777s on routes to cities such as MAN (which may see a 767+757 per day instead of the 777), AMS (two 767s per day replace the 777 on the EWR-AMS route) FRA and/or MAD, and available the 777s will then be assigned to the China routes. This is just an example, there is also a possibility that the EWR-GVA and/or EWR-ZRH routes may end up with 757 service. If the winglets add the promised 300-500 miles to the 757s range, CO will have more options with using the 757 accross the Atlantic.
In addition, I think that CO can tighten up some of the 777 scheduling to get more utilization out of its fleet, but if China happens for CO, the Continental 767 and 777 fleets are going to be very very busy. Remember, aside from China, CO is adding daily HNL-NGO with a 764, EWR-LOS has been announced with a 762, and CO now has authority to start EWR-Moscow which would likely be a 762 to start (probably will happen next year as well)......thus, the days of 767s on the EWR-LAX, EWR-SJU and MCO-IAH-LAX routes and 777s (from time to time) flying the IAH-HNL route are probably over. Only EWR-Santo Domingo will keep a 764 or 777 - since CO hauls a huge amount of cargo on that route.
