American Airlines offers special fares each week in conjunction with certain football games. This weekend is the Georgia-Florida game, which is a HUGE game in these parts.
AA is offering a special deal for this event. From select cities, they are offering a special fare to fly you to ATL to watch the game at University of GA in Athens, GA.
The only problem is, the game is in Jacksonville, FL (as it always is every year)! (About a 5 hour drive away for those who don't know.)
So, my question is, if you buy such a ticket and arrive in Athens and then realize the game is not being played there, will AA refund your money?

Yeah, that is a short-sighted mistake.
I've kept up with their "football game" fares for quite a while, and many of them are quite funny. With their hubs in ORD and DFW, it seems like every week they have a Northwestern or SMU football game advertised. Believe me, no one goes to SMU's games. And last time I checked, Northwestern wasn't a football powerhouse either.
To their credit, they sometimes have a flight to CMH advertised for an Ohio State game, but its never Ohio State-Michigan or anthing like that. I think they look at thier weekly discounts and find which cities are having any kind of Div I football game at all, and call them thier special college football fares. This mistake only magnifies the fact.

A funny mistake but concerning pricing,
It was March of 02' and my family and I were in a bit of a crunch for flights b/c we didn't want to pay so much (Something like $2000!! for the route) for a simple flight to AMS. I came home and looked up the route on UA's website and it came up with $399.00 for SFO-IAD-AMS-IAD/ORD-SFO! I booked it right away without telling my mother and I called her and told her of the fare.
She looked it up on United's Website and was getting to the point of no return (the paying part) and it had said that the price had been pulled. I told her of my reservation and she booked the flight, costing us in the neighborhood of $2100 Round trip for 5 of us to fly. This was a flight in July and we got great seats.

I was looking at all their special fares because of this thread, and came across one for cheaper business class tickets... The details of that are pointless, but my main concern was how it's marketed....
I love how they simply call it "business class" and have, quite possibly, the most boring logo for it!
