MEL-LAX-ORD On QF.. Status

If I stand correct this route was supposed to start in March 03 but then was moved to April 04. Does anyone know the status? I would love to see QF at ORD.

The gossip (was also in the press here) is that it will be DFW, not back to ORD, in late 2005/ early 2006. There was an article about QF looking at the A340-500 or getting some more range out of the 744ER to go SYD-DFW nonstop (without being at the absolute end of range).

If the US and Australia would have an open skies agreement, then those nice Qantas 747-400ERs parked at LAX all day could start being utilized more during their down times. On any given day, they could have as many as 4 747s parked from the early morning until late at night (when JFK continuation is not running).
