CO Adds Third IAH/HNL Flight For The Holidays

I posted this elsewhere but it deserves its own thread:

CO has added a third flight between IAH/HNL on select days during the Christmas/New Year's holiday period. The flight may also operate during the winter break period. It'll be operated (along with all other mainland-Hawaii flights) with a B764 aircraft.

Still no CLE-HNL service...

You have to rub it in, don't you IP. Bah.

I'd take just a saturday-only out of here.  Sad

LOL. You'd think CO would've at least given CLE a chance with the extra frequency they gave IAH... the EWR-HNL flight requires a lengthy 2.5-hour connection and EWR/IAH are a couple hours outta the way for persons living within the midwest...

Once those ERJ-XRs get ETOPS 180, then you'll see CLE-HNL.....

sorry, couldn't resist that one. Also works for CVG-HNL as well.

DL's going to operate CVG-HNL with a B764 very soon  Smile. CVG-BDL gets a B763, too.

Well, IP, I know for a fact that, just prior to 9/11, CO was ready to load into the computers a daily 764 CLE-LAX-HNL. Then 9/11 happened, and that was scrubbed. It would have been a good barometer to see if a CLE-HNL, even if not daily, was viable.

Unfortuantely, the reality is that Cleveland is always 3rd on the pecking order for routes, and, unless CO would go out and buy a hundred or so widebodies, which isn't going to happen, that won't change.

If a third IAH-HNL will perform better than one CLE-HNL, then you can't argue with the logic, but it would be nice to see CLE get a route, run with it for a while, and see if we can make it work.  Sad

Hehe. I tell people that all the time at work.  Big grin

Uh, if you didn't notice, as of today, DL flies daily nonstop 764 CVG-HNL. Bah.  Sad

Was it a B764 or DC-10? I thought the HNL flights were going to be the last to get the B764, but after 9-11 CO opted to slash European service / change several EWR-Europe flights to B757 and put the B764 (they only had a half-dozen at the time IIRC) on the HNL routes.

I'm still waiting for year-round DTW-HNL service... I understand MSP-HNL got the second daily because MSP's more westbound, but many NW communities have to double-connect to get to HNL... maybe AQ will announce DTW-OAK-HNL and NW will announce B744 DTW-HNL service  Laugh out loud.

Yeah, this is would be great for NW is give it up to B744 nonstop from DTW-HNL and this is really need more passengers on their flight by the way to HNL. I still hope how is the load factors doing? it will have many double connected to HNL with AQ or HA flight, too. Thanks!  Smile

There's no second EWR flight -- it's definitely a third IAH-HNL flight... BTW, the EWR flight isn't really timed for connecting traffic...

They suck! I can't get an F class seat at all on any of their flights, be it IAH/EWR or LAX to HNL. And to make matters worse, they don't even allow waitlisting the segments! At least on NW I can waitlist a myriad of flights in hopes on one clearing.

Already have HA confirmed on their new 767 LAX-HNL but would much prefer NWA or CAL. Any words of wisdom of getting on one of those nonstops IAH-HNL in R (or is it E?) class?

SCRAMJET,
Actually CO does allow waitlisting for F to HNL... but you have to have an upgradeable ticket + pay the fees up front -- most of the time you'll lose...

Sorry Alpha 1, but I don't think that's a fair statement when CO advertises UNLIMITED FREE UPGRADES virtually everywhere, including practically all of their jet bridges in EWR. They might as well advertise "BEAUTIFUL 20-SOMETHING FEMALES AS FAs ON EVERY FLIGHT" because the chances of getting that are about the same as getting an upgrade.

Alpa 1,
Maybe CO should pay you on a "cash available" basis, then deny you paycheck week-after-week due to lack of funds while meanwhile Gordon Bethune attends private parties (maybe one on a private island, complete with a statue of Michelangelo's David that squirts premium liquid when you pull its...) financed with company funds.

Then I'll smile and tell you 'welcome to the world I've been living in for the past year.'

Where's my violin for IP?

You can play it on 1/4/04 -- I'll be at CLE that day, headed to EWR (and then DTW) on my final flights (for many years at least) with CO. I wonder if they'll have a water-cannon salute for my ERJ-135 flight upon arrival in DTW? Nah, it'll be too icy...  Smile
