I am very excited to be going to South Africa this month.
And I wanted to know what to expect as far a service and
IFE on board their 744. And their 738, JNB-CPT.  Smile

Any info would be appreciated.

Support Airliners.net - become a First Class Member!

Go to http://www.saa.co.za and click on "In-Flight Information" - that should give you all the infos you need... and have a great trip, South Africa (and SAA for that much) are really great!

I flew SAA back in January ATL-CPT-JNB-VFA-JNB-SID-ATL. They were awesome! Even the CPT-JNB leg on the 738 had a hot breakfast. The 732 to VFA was refurbished really nice and had a nice box lunch. And then the long flights on the 744, rivals the world's finest. You won't be disappointed.

On the JFK-JNB leg expect a marathon! I am curious as to how many movies they would show in coach. I suspect that flight is 16-18 hours, on DFW-KIX there was 5 movies shown in coach (I was in first Big grin) and that was 14 hours.

Thanks for the info! I am flying BA CPT-LHR-JFK on the way
back, so I get to experience both.

They show how ever many movies you want to watch, they have Sony On Demand PTV's.

On the way down back in April I watched every movie and every TV show they had, on the way back I slept.

The flight from ATL to CPT is actually longer than the JFK-CPT flight by about an hour, so I had an extra hour of being bored to enjoy  Smile
