I am just wondering whats the cheapest place to look for tickets between Los Angeles and Chicago. I have have friend, who is flying into Los Angeles from Sydney on Singapore Airlines, and hasn't been able to find reasonably priced tickets to Chicago. He is also interested in going to New York and Washington for a few days as well. Would an airpass be a better option. Is there a site such as expedia.com etc to find such deals?

Well, if he's willing to fly into MDW, WN has LAX-MDW for ~$145 inclusive (nonstops only) with the current promotion code (targeted).

If you check their internet specials, I think they're as low as $79 each way...

PS to Zizou, you won't find Southest's fares on Expedia or Orbitz, etc., but only on http://www.southwest.com

Additionally, and assuming he'd willing to use other area airports, SWA also flies MDW-ISP and MDW-BWI...

There's no slightly about it! MDW is about 25 minutes on the subway to Downtown, whereas ORD is about 45-50.

I don't think you are going to find anything cheaper than WN right now at $75 on an LAX-MDW oneway. I think i've seen TZ's fares right around $125 on a one way. Have seen a round trip at $175 before so you'll just have to do some looking. Check out the online airfare websites you usually can find a good deal on the major airlines there (with the exception of WN)
