Yemenia To Add China And Philippines

The Yemen flag carrier IY are planning to launch operations to Hong Kong and Manila via Bahrain which they will use as a hub, the airline has also gained fifth freedom rights to carry passengers from BAH to the Far East, according to justplanes.com, IY already serve Malaysia and Indonesia in the region.

Cool, but why would they launch flights to the region at this particular time? They may already have the rights to do BAH-HKG & BAH-MNL, but I’d think they’d put off the introduction of services to HKG & MNL until the SARS situation improves.

Cathay Pacific & Gulf Air already offer flights to BAH from HKG, so I really wonder how they’ll do if they ever start the service.

What aircraft would they fly? A313?

Howcome they would start the services from BAH....? Thats strange....would'nt it be out of the way also.I think they should promote Sanaa as their hub

They will apparently wait till the SARS is over. Starting the route at the best of times will be difficult for them. Starting now would be insane.
