I don't know of any airlines who allow this. However, in my opinion, I think smoking on an aircraft or any other confined space in public is very selfish.

I am sure there might be an international carrier that might still have smoking onboard its aircraft. I think most airlines have done away with smoking, as it is a cost in itself. Burns on the upholstery has to be a cost that airlines have looked at in the past too. I like flying without smoking. I can't imagine being stuck in a tube with smoke pouring through it.

The only one I know of is Aeroflot but they don't flight to Bangkok through India or China. Even though it may be officially a non-smoking airline, everyone smokes. When I flew BKK-SVO, the no smoking light was on the entire flight yet the plane smelled like Greyhound bus station.

Quoting RichM (Reply 1): think smoking on an aircraft or any other confined space in public is very selfish.
HI
I smoke but I agree 100% with what is said above. I really think that smoking on an airplane is really selfish. If I want to smoke I alway try to go to somewhere open..
My personal opinion.

Quoting Doona (Reply 9): People find it annoying, and in a confined space like an A/C, it get's very annoying and unpleasant
That has nothing to do with the question. If an airline allows smoking, there is obviously passenger interest in a smoking flight. If you purchase a ticket on a smoking flight, then you should be prepared to endure a smoke filled flight. There are many other airlines that will get you to the same destination if you choose to enjoy a smoke free flight.

Quoting Deaphen (Reply 8): Nope AI is totally non smoking.
exactly, I think they just assumed that for obvious reasons. Most airlines of India are just like western airlines if not better in terms of service and quality.
and I was definetely going to say aeroflot, but is your smoking crave that bad that you have to smoke on the airplane, sheesh. I dont mind where you smoke, but on an airplane, which is like a capsule, it could be annoying to others.

Quoting UN_B732 (Reply 10): Aeroflot is non-smoking too. Honestly, I don't know of an airline that allows smoking. Even BG (Biman Bangladesh) doesn't anymore.
on Biman it's the planes themselves which do the smoking Several of the Russian carriers though have a very lapse policy of enforcing the no smoking rule and, likewise will continue serving alcohol until some passengers are thoroughly drunk.

Quoting Pdxcof9 (Reply 2): I hate walking by the smoking rooms in the SLC airport. They should be like PDX where you have to go outside to smoke. Smoking is a nasty habit.
Or at the very least put a door on the smoking enclosures! I agree with you.
I don't belive there are any airlines left in the world which permit smoking at least not on international sectors.

On a slightly different tack. I noticed a few weeks ago when I flew on a near new Emb170 the lighted signs overhead were seat belts and "No portable electronic devices" instead of the standard No Smoking. I guess a sign of the times as most people would now assume all flights to be non smoking.
One of the major costs to an airline with regard to smoking was the cleaning of the air conditioning filters. Anyone who needs a nudge to kick the habit should see what these lovelies looked and smelled like!
