I asking about:

I know there are some members out there that can help so please do..,

Thanks,

The Southern Hemisphere has opposit seasons from the North. Weather is very dependent on the country and its geography.

Montevideo and B.A. are like night and day. I like Montevideo, but more as a side trip from somewhere else in the Southern Cone. It's probably not worth a trip by itself. You're probably better off debating between Buenos Aires and Santiago (and, if you go the Santiago route, VIna del Mar and Valparaiso as well as they're real close). Flying to SCL might be cheaper, too, as you'll be able to fly LAN direct to SCL (perhaps with a stop in LIM).

In terms of the best weather, I'd suggest December or March. The trouble with January and February isn't so much the weather (it's nice, if a bit warm) but the fact that much of Chilean and Argentine officialdom is on vacation during those months. That means that the big cities are ghost towns and the resort areas are packed. It can work to your advantage, but I think it's easier to go when that's not the case.

Well it depends what you are looking for I suppose, direct flights? Particular alliance?

I flew via MIA to EZE with AA before and they were quite good and very reasonable fares. MVD, as Cubsrule said, is more of a sidetrip from somewhere rather than a destination in itself. I got the fast ferry from Buenos Aires for a couple of days. I went in August / September and the weather was fine at that time, not too cold or wet, but just dont go too far south at that time of the year or you wont find the weather so inviting!

Have a fantastic trip, South America is a fantastic place and the people are really friendly

Does PUQ (Punta Arenas) have direct service by LA? You could, if possible, make a trip from SCL to PUQ and visit the southermost city on the Southern Cone, right near Antartica.  Wink

I like October/November in BA. In fact I've only been to Sth America in those months. EZE has many more flights, so will be cheaper as well.

October and November are prefect for SCL , EZE or MVD , because is low season for air fares , you can choose LA non stop to SCL and then to Buenos Aires and MVD. This time of the year is spring so it is not too hot or cold.
There is no rainy season in Buenos Aires .
There are lots of flights ( 35 min) between AEP and MVD of PU and AR .
Hotels , depend on what you what to spend. All 3 cities are similar on what could offer for international tourist, maybe Buenos Aires have more offers because is the biggest of the 3.
Good fares from Buenos Aires to LAX are around U$ 900 on LA(LIM or SCL), CO( IAH), DL(ATL) or AA(DFW or MIA)
